A total of 284 officials and employees of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) had either been promoted or given special commendations for exemplary service.
In a statement, the BuCor said that among those promoted were 92 commissioned officers, 176 non-commissioned officers, and eight civilian personnel.
It said that Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. himself administered the oath of office to the newly promoted personnel as part of the culminating activities of the bureau’s weeklong 119th founding anniversary celebration.
“Under the leadership of DG Catapang Jr., the bureau has implemented a series of strategic reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency, enhancing the welfare of both personnel and persons deprived of liberty, and strengthening security protocols across all facilities,” it also said.
Last Nov. 14, a total of 115 personnel graduated with the rank of corrections officers 1 after finishing their mandatory training.
A total of 3,710 personnel had completed the required basid and mandatory trainings, it said.
“Of the said number 3,067 new recruits successfully finished the Basic Training Course for Corrections Officer 1 while 643 custodial officers completed their Mandatory Training in preparation for their promotion,” it noted.
