Malabon LGU gets Seal of Good Local Governance from DILG

The local government of Malabon City was awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on Thursday, November 14.

According to the city’s public information office, this marks the second SGLG award achieved under Mayor Jeannie Sandoval’s administration.

The SGLG, established under Republic Act No. 11292 or the SGLG Act of 2019, is an institutionalized award program that incentivizes, honors and encourages local government units (LGUs) to continuously enhance their performance in various areas of governance.

“Congratulations Malabon! Sa ikalawang pagkakataon sa ating termino ay nakamit ng pamahalaang lungsod ang Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), isang parangal mula sa Department of Interior and Local Government na kumikilala sa mga lokal na pamahalaan para sa epektibong pagpapatupad ng mga programa para sa kaligtasan, ekonomiya, at kalikasan para sa kapakanan ng kanilang mga residente (For the second time in our term, the city government has achieved the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), an award from the Department of Interior and Local Government that recognizes local governments for effectively implementing programs on safety, economy, and environment for the welfare of their residents),” Sandoval said in her Facebook post. 

To receive the seal, LGUs must pass evaluations across 10 governance sectors, including Financial Management and Sustainability, Disaster Readiness, Social Welfare and Empathy, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Oversight, Tourism, Heritage Promotion, and Youth Advancement.

Malabon City was also recognized for its public service excellence at the 2024 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards on October 28, being honored as the Top Performing Local Government Unit (LGU) in both the Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit and the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit.
