Marcos says PH-US ties won't change under Trump admin

The relationship between the Philippines and the United States will not change after Republican Donald Trump claimed victory in the US presidential election, President Marcos said.

" I don’t think it will change," Marcos said in an interview on Monday night, Nov. 11 when asked about the country's prospects on its ties with the US following the election of Trump.

"You know, the global forces that are – and you know, they are our oldest treaty – treaty partner, that doesn’t change," he added.

In his congratulatory message on Nov. 6, Marcos said he looks forward to working with President-elect Trump on "a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits for two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, a common vision, and a long history of working together."

He conveyed that he is hopeful that the two countries' "unshakeable alliance" will be a force for good, blazing a path of prosperity and amity in the region and on both sides of the Pacific.

Trump won the presidential race against outgoing US vice president Kamala Harris.
