Marcos congratulates Trump on White House comeback

President Marcos has extended his well-wishes to United States president-elect Donald Trump on his successful return to the White House, saying he is looking forward to working with the former business mogul on issues beneficial to both countries.

Marcos said this after Trump defeated US Vice President Kamala Harris in the recently concluded elections on Nov. 6 (Manila time).

In a statement, the President congratulated the American people for their display of democracy.

"President Trump has won, and the American people triumphed, and I congratulate them for their victory in an exercise which showed the world the strength of American values," he said.

"Congratulations, President Trump!" he added.

With this, Marcos said he is looking forward to working with Trump's administration to bring the relationship between the Philippines and the US to greater heights.

"We look forward to working with President Trump on a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits to two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, common vision, and a long history of working together," he said.

"I am hopeful that this unshakeable alliance, tested in war and peace, will be a force of good that will blaze a path of prosperity and amity in the region and both sides of the Pacific," he added.

President Marcos expressed confidence in President Trump's leadership.

"This is a durable partnership the Philippines is fully committed to because it is founded on the ideals we share: freedom and democracy," he said.

"I have personally met President Trump as a young man, so I know that his robust leadership will result in a better future for all of us," he added.
