Leyte Regional Prison escapee arrested -- BuCor

A person deprived of liberty (PDL), who escaped from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) last Aug. 24, has been captured in Calamba, Laguna, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, Oct. 7.

“The successful recapture reflects the Bureau of Corrections' steadfast commitment to maintaining order and upholding the law, despite the challenges posed by prison escapees,” BuCor said in a statement.

The bureau said the PDL, whose identity was withheld, was arrested last Friday, Oct. 4, by the New Bilibid Prison Recovery Team in coordination with the LRP and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) in Region VIII.

“The swift and coordinated response of multiple agencies underscores the efficiency and determination of law enforcement in mitigating potential risks to public safety,” it said.

“The apprehension followed vital intelligence shared by C/CInsp. Josemari D. Alambro, acting superintendent of LRP, and C/CInsp. Ricardo R. Sespene Jr.,, deputy superintendent for Security and Operations at LRP,” it also said.
