DOJ vows to pursue case vs killers of race car champion Enzo Pastor

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday, Oct. 7, has vowed to run after Dalia Guerrero Pastor who is facing a parricide case as one of alleged masterminds in the 2014 killing of her husband, race car champion Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor.

The Supreme Court (SC) had earier reinstated the parricide case against Dalia as it granted the petition filed by Enzo's father Tomas Pastor.

With its ruling, the SC also reinstated the warrant of arrest and hold departure orders issued on March 24, 2015 by the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) against Dalia.

"The wheels of justice will not remain idle or passive now that the High Court has passed down its judgment,” DOJ SecretaryJesus Crispin C. Remulla said in a statement.

“The DOJ will join our partner agencies in hunting down the mastermind of Enzo Pastor's murder," assured Remulla.

"We will also be working with our international counterparts to track down and extradite Dalia as soon as possible,” he said. 

“Ten years have passed and this is the time to prove that the present administration will do whatever it takes to get the job done at all costs," he added.

Enzo was gunned down in 2014 by an assailant while he stopped his truck at the intersection of Visayas and Congressional Avenues in Quezon City.

Charged in Enzo's killing were Police Officer II (PO2) Edgar Angel, as the gunman, and Domingo De Guzman III and Dalia as masterminds in Enzo’s killing. 

PO2 Angel and De Guzman were arrested, while Dalia remained at large.

Dalia elevated the case to the Court of Appeals (CA) which ruled in her favor.  The SC, however, reversed the CA's decision.
