Rise in daily passenger arrivals, departures expected this 'Undas' -- BI
Daily passenger arrivals and departures are expected to increase this “Undas” holiday season, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday, Oct. 31.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that the daily passenger arrivals starting Oct. 31, has been projected to be between 41,000 to 47,000, while the departures are projected to be 43,000 to 48,000.
“We have ramped up our operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) with additional personnel to maintain a smooth flow of passengers,” Viado said.
He said that the 58 new immigration officers who graduated last Oct. 29 will be deployed to augment personnel at the airports.
“We are also activating our rapid response units to address any sudden increases in passenger traffic, particularly during peak hours,” he added.
He also said that the BI has been “closely monitoring the situation to ensure the public receives efficient, reliable service.”
During last year’s "Undas" season, Viado said the BI recorded an average of 37,000 daily departures and 36,000 daily arrivals.
