Angono kicks off Higantes and Arts Festival 2024


The iconic "higantes" (giants) of Angono, Rizal danced along the streets to kick off this year's Higantes and Arts Festival.

Several ‘higantes’, the town’s version of mascots made of aluminum frame and dressed in Filipino costume, swayed from left to right dancing to the beat of the drums.

Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon and Vice Mayor Gerardo Calderon led local  officials in unveiling the calendar of activities for the festival that has been drawing local and foreign tourists from various parts of the province and outside.

Vice Mayor Calderon said the annual festival highlights the residents’ love for arts, music, culture and traditions.

One of highlight of the activities throughout the month is the Grand Parade of Giants featuring about a hundred higantes dancing and walking along the streets of the town.

Prominent personalities, both local and national, are characterized by the town’s giants, including a version of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
