DOJ asks public's help for info on persons behind illegal drugs den near Malacanang complex

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday, Oct. 25, asked the public for help in hunting down other persons behind the operation of an illegal drugs den near the Malacanang complex.

The call was made after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) led last Oct. 16 an operation that resulted in the arrest of suspected drug trader Edgar Ventura and the shutting down of the drug den along Nicanor Padilla Street in San Miguel, Manila.

“We call upon the public to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in identifying and apprehending the suspect’s accomplices,” the DOJ said in a statement.

The DOJ assured that it remains unwavering in its stance against illegal drugs and will “show ‘no mercy’ in this fight.”

“This administration is resolutely dedicated to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” it said.

The NBI had received information that a certain Francisco Soriano Jr. was also involved in the operation of the drug den but remains at large.

The DOJ lauded the NBI for having conducted the operation which was done with the assistance of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“Their commitment to combatting illegal drugs is a vital step towards safer communities,” the DOJ said.

“This arrest serves as a testament to the NBI’s professionalism and its pivotal role as a partner in our justice system,” it also said.
