1st day of filing of COCs in Rizal province generally peaceful – RPPO

Rizal Police Provincial Office Director Col. Felipe Maraggun said the first day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in the entire province on Tuesday, October 1, was generally peaceful.

Maraggun urged all candidates and their supporters in the province to emulate the move of Binangonan Municipal Administrator Russel Guiller Ynares in voluntarily surrendering his firearm for safekeeping.

“I urge all of you to do the same as it will show your commitment to honest, orderly, and peaceful elections,” he added.

Ynares, on Tuesday, personally turned over his firearm to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for safekeeping at the Binangonan Police Station in compliance with the IMPLAN (Implementation Plan) 25/2024 FEEL SAFER guidelines and procedures that enjoin candidates, supporters, relatives, and juridical entities to have their firearms surrendered to the police either for safekeeping or disposal, in an effort to obtain a secured, accurate, and fair elections in the region.

Ynares told the Manila Bulletin that his act was to set an example to all candidates and their supporters that the administration of Mayor Cesar Ynares is serious in its aim of having an orderly and peaceful campaign and election.
