Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa on Saturday, Oct. 19, urged new doctors to embrace public service by joining the Department of Health (DOH).
In a statement, Herbosa congratulated the new Filipino physicians who passed the Physicians Licensure Examinations (PLE) 2024 held this month.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) earlier announced that 3,845 out of 6,600 takers passed the October 2024 PLE.

“Join us in government service at the DOH,” Herbosa told the new doctors. “Help us build a health system that Filipinos truly deserve! Serve the people!” he added.
“Let us focus on public health, health systems strengthening, health policy, and health financing,” Herbosa said, noting that they can also choose to be a DOH Doctor to the Barrios (DTTB).
Herbosa emphasized that DOH hospitals also offer residency programs and specializations. The new doctors can also consider Family and Community Medicine—the doctors who will save lives at Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service (BUCAS) centers, mobile primary care clinics, and through the PuroKalusugan program.
“Let us build and provide safe, affordable, and accessible healthcare for our people,” Herbosa added.
