2 foreign 'sex offenders' arrested -- BI

Two foreigners, one of them a convicted sex offender in the United Kingdom, have been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

The BI identified them as American Joseph John Graham, 76, and Briton Ryan Ashley, 50.

“They will be deported immediately and will be placed in our blacklist, banning them from re-entering the Philippines,” assured BI COmmissioner Joel Anthony Viado in a statement.

The BI said that Graham was arrested by immigration officers at the Clark International Airport in Angeles City, Pampanga last Wednesday, Oct. 16.

“Graham is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the 19th judicial court of Indian River County, Florida where he was charged with 55 counts of child pornography,” said the bureau.

“Investigation allegedly revealed that multiple child sex abuse materials, including nude pictures of Filipino children, some as young as three years old, were found on the mobile phone of Graham who frequently travels to the Philippines,” it said.

Graham has been turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which is set to file charges against him.

The bureau said Ashley was arrested also last Wednesday while seeking to extend his tourist visa at the BI’s office in Taguig City.

“Ashley is a registered sex offender who was convicted in the United Kingdom in 1994 and 2002 of multiple sexual offenses, including indecent assault on minors,” it said.

Ashley is now detained at the BI’s detention center in Taguig City pending his deportation.
