Since 2022, BuCor has dismissed 20 personnel for various offenses
Since he assumed his post in October 2022, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. has dismissed 20, suspended 70, fined 10, and reprimanded 19 personnel of the bureau for various offenses.
The dismissals, suspensions, fines, and reprimands were for neglect of duty, misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, and insubordination.
“This is a clear message that we will not tolerate any misconduct and inefficiencies in our organization while we will reward with promotion those who will uphold our ethical standards to ensure effective and fair delivery of public services,” Catapang said in a statement issued on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
On the other hand, Catapang said that 95 BuCor personnel have been promoted.
He warned BuCor's personnel that he will not hesitate to take action against those who will violate the rules and regulations of the bureau.
"We will hold everybody accountable for their actions by implementing a range of penalties based on the severity of the offenses committed," he said.
"The bureau is demonstrating fairness and consistency in the administration of justice within the agency,” he added.
