One hundred persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) have been transferred from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City to the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Of those transferred, 20 were from the NBP's Reception and Diagnostic Center and 80 from the Medium Security Camp,” BuCor said.
It said the transfer is part of bureau’s ongoing efforts to decongest the NBP.
“Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said the 100 PDLs were escorted by 30 corrections officers with assistance from BuCor SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), Philippine National Police and South Luzon Expressway Patrol,” it said
Last Aug. 15, a total of 500 NBP PDLs was transferred to the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City.
They included 200 from NBP's maximum-security compound, 200 from medium-security compound, and 100 from the reception and diagnostic center.
