St. Luke's Medical Center recently unveiled its new Center for Structural Heart and Vascular Interventions (CSVI) facility at a ceremony in the the Henry Sy, Sr. Auditorium in St. Luke's Global City, Taguig last Jan. 16, 2024.

The grand opening revealed the cutting-edge facility, which is designed to be at the forefront in the field of minimally invasive options of care for patients with complex heart and vascular diseases.

At the ceremony, hospital officials said that the new facility is also envisioned as a hub for advanced training and research on structural heart and vascular diseases, emphasizing multidisciplinary teams and quality-controlled environments for exceptional care outcomes.

The St. Luke's Center for Structural Heart and Vascular Interventions marks a milestone in cardiac healthcare, blending advanced technology, hybrid operating theaters, and optimized imaging with experienced care teams. Focused on expanding minimally invasive options for complex cardiovascular diseases, the center prioritizes individual patient needs in quality-controlled environments to optimize procedural outcomes.

Under the leadership of Dr. Fabio Enrique Posas, a pioneer in transcatheter valve replacement and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, the center provides innovative diagnostic and minimally invasive treatments for complex cardiovascular diseases. It caters to patients with limited care options or facing challenging open surgical procedures, offering state-of-the-art imaging and personalized interventions based on their conditions and risk profiles.

"At St. Luke's Medical Center, we are committed to providing the highest level of care for patients with complex structural heart and vascular diseases," said Dr. Posas, during the press conference at the opening ceremony. "Our new Center for Structural Heart and Vascular Interventions (CSVI) is equipped with the latest technology, and is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of experts who are passionate about delivering personalized, minimally invasive care to our patients."

The center offers a range of advanced services, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) for aortic valve stenosis without general anesthesia or surgical cuts. Our specialists have pioneered trans-catheter mitral valve repair (Mitra Clip), with plans to expand options for mitral and tricuspid valve interventions. Other interventions include endovascular repair for aortic aneurysms, hybrid surgical and vascular repairs for high-risk patients, known for faster recovery, lower complications, and mortality.

With a quality-controlled care environment and comprehensive databases, our medical center and multidisciplinary teams pioneer minimally invasive interventions. Recognized as a leading center for TAVR in Southeast Asia, the CSHVI celebrates a milestone of 252 TAVR cases as of December 2023, solidifying its leadership in structural heart interventions. Patients can anticipate outstanding clinical outcomes backed by the hospital's commitment to precision, innovation, and excellence.
