Sereño shot and wounded Tacubay first but he ran towards the restroom to hide. Piamonte tried to take the gun away from Sereño but it went off and hit her.
The 22-year-old Piamonte died on the spot while the 26-year-old Tacubay is now in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Sereño admitted killing Piamonte but his actual target was Tacubay.
He said he planned to kill Tacubay for hurting him that Piamonte did not want to rekindle their relationship and suspected that she was in a relationship with Tacubay.
Sereño hired a boat from the coastal town of Pulupandan in Negros Occidental that transported him to the island-province of Guimaras on January 19.
He was able to enter the university when he lied to security guards by telling them that he was giving Piamonte’s allowance.
