Bulletproof glass case eyed for Black Nazarene during Traslacion 2024

Officials of Quiapo Church or the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene will soon release the new design of "andas" or the carriage that will carry the Black Nazarene which will be enclosed in a bulletproof glass case for the Traslacion procession this year.
The church management initially announced that the Black Nazarene would be placed in a bulletproof glass box, to prevent the devotees from climbing the carriage.

The new design aims to give more highlights to the Black Nazarene and is in line with the 2024 theme “Ibig naming makita si Hesus (We want to see the Lord)."
Devotees are still allowed to carry the lever, pull the rope, and wipe the glass wall with handkerchiefs, but only the image of the black Nazarene can be seen resting on the carriage.
There will also be a small portion of the cross left protruding from the back part of the glass box for devotees.
It said it targets to release the official design, guidelines, and additional schedule of activities during the media conference on Jan. 4.
The Church has also released the schedule of primary activities for Traslacion 2024:
• Jan. 3 to 4: Blessing of replicas and standards in Plaza Miranda
• Jan. 6: Mass for Nazarene volunteers at the Quirino Grandstand
• Jan. 6 to 8: “Pahalik” to the Nazarene

• Jan. 9: Misa Mayor and Traslacion
Meanwhile, the traditional "Walk of Thanksgiving" was held from midnight on Dec. 30 to 31, where 15,000 devotees traveled approximately 4.650 kilometers around the vicinity of Quiapo Church for two hours.
