Quiapo Church, MPD conduct walkthrough for Traslacion 2024 route

Leaders of the Manila Police District (MPD) and Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church conducted a "walkthrough" on Saturday morning, Dec. 16, to prepare the route for Traslacion 2024.
According to authorities of Quiapo Church, the walkthrough aims to examine the route that the devotees will possibly take during the Traslacion procession.
The practice was halted in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
They said Quiapo Church will use a bulletproof glass box next year, where the image of the Black Nazarene will be placed, unlike the traditional "Traslacion," where devotees are seen surrounding and holding the image.
The walkthrough started at 5 a.m. at the Quirino Grandstand, passed through Katigbak Street, and ended at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo Church.
Some members from government agencies also participated in the walkthrough, along with personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) who escorted them during the procession.
MMDA said some motorists were dismayed over the counterflowing procession, as it caused light to moderate traffic.
