New Year celebration by 93 CIW's PDLs with loved ones at Bilibid

Ninety-three persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City had their New Year celebration with their loved ones at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said the women PDLs were brought to NBP last Dec. 31 and were allowed to stay until Jan. 1.

"This endeavour demonstrated compassion as the PDLs were allowed to be with each other for a longer time," BuCor said.

"BuCor strongly believes that the visitation opportunity during this Holiday Season alleviates the PDLs' worry and homesickness as they serve their term in the facility,” the bureau said in a statement.

“The Bureau continues to prioritize the well-being and provide means to improve the living conditions of our clientele,” it said.

Visited by CIW's PDLs were their loved ones at NBP's maximum, medium, and minimum security compounds and those at the reception and diagnostice center, it also said.

It added that the two-day visit was through the initiative of BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr.
