Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said 547 families affected by flood in the towns of Trento and Veruela in Agusan del Sur received relief goods on Wednesday and Thursday.
Distribution of food packs in Veruela was conducted by the local government unit in partnership with the police, Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay, and the Army 60th Infantry Battalion.
Four-hundred seventy-two affected families in Barangay Binongan and Barangay Poblacion in Veruela received food packs containing rice, canned goods, and other commodities.
Seventy-five families in Sitio Maica, Barangay Kapatungan, Trento also received relief packs from the Trento and personnel of Trento Municipal Police Station.
“These goods, though small in amount, is already a big help for those affected by the flood,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said.
Kraft directed field unit commanders to constantly coordinate with the local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and monitor low-lying and coastal areas that might be affected by flooding from constant rain from the shear line.
“Rest assured that our public safety operations are in place during these times.”
