According to the Davao Oriental provincial government, heavy rainfall from the shear line from Monday, January 15, to Tuesday, January 16, led to flooding that affected 5,798 families in the towns of Boston, Caraga, Cateel, and Lupon, with Caraga having the highest number of affected families with 5,413.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-11 turned over 2,683 family food packs and non-food items to areas affected by flash floods in Davao de Oro following heavy rain from January 15 to 16.
“As the shear line persists, bringing localized thunderstorms worsened by the northeast monsoon across the region, the DSWD-11, through the disaster response management division, is vigilantly monitoring the impacts in coordination with local counterparts,” the DSWD-11 said.
The DSWD-11 said they are prepared with resources ready for augmentation following the request of affected local government units.
