9 areas in Luzon to experience 'coldest' temperatures due to 'amihan'


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced that due to the prevalence of the northeast monsoon or "amihan," nine areas in Luzon will experience the "coldest" temperatures on Monday, Jan. 15.

PAGASA, in its temperature update at 8 a.m., has recorded a temperature of 13.2°C in Baguio City.

Among the other areas in Luzon with the coldest temperatures were Basco, Batanes at 17.0°C; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan at 18.4°C; Tanay, Rizal at 18.8°C; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte at 19.4°C; Abucay, Bataan at 20.1°C; Casiguran, Aurora at 21.2°C; Dagupan City, Pangasinan at 21.2°C; and Sinait, Ilocos Sur at 21.3°C.

PAGASA also recorded a temperature of 20°C in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, located in Northern Mindanao.  

The "amihan" will continue to bring cold temperatures and light rains in parts of the country in the following days, PAGASA said.
