A fire hit a restaurant and bar in the upscale Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig, damaging nearly P3 million in properties.
According to the Taguig City Fire Station, the fire started at the 233-sq.m. The Coconut Club bar and Friends and Family restaurant on 5th Ave. corner 30th St. in BGC at about 9:24 p.m. last Jan. 12.

The first alarm was raised at 9:39 p.m. The blaze was put under control at 9:51 p.m. and was put out at 10:03 p.m.
Investigators estimated that the fire caused P2.91 million in damage to properties. No one was injured in the fire, which started from the ceiling of the establishment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Coconut Club PH said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be temporarily closed. We appreciate your understanding during this time and will keep you updated on our reopening.”
It added, “We are taking a quick break to ensure everything’s sizzling safely! We are temporarily closed, and our delivery app services are on a chill pause. Hang tight, we’ll be back soon to serve up your happy food.”
A total of nine fire trucks and two ambulances responded to the incident.
