
The motorcycle rider who was previously in critical condition after being shot in the head during a road rage altercation in Antipolo City has died, Antipolo City Police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo said in a radio interview on Monday, March 31.
According to Manongdo, the 52-year-old victim passed away at around 6:05 p.m. on March 31 after undergoing surgery.
He added that the suspect, identified as "Kenneth," may face murder charges following the victim's passing.
Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) director Col. Felipe Maraggun earlier said charges of frustrated homicide, violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as the election gun ban will be filed against the 28-year-old suspect.
Based on the police report, the shooting incident occurred on March 30 at around 5 p.m. along Marcos Highway in Barangay San Jose after the suspect, who was driving a black Toyota Fortuner, allegedly cut the way dangerously close to a motorcycle rider.
The rider, together with other motorcycle riders chased after Kenneth and a fistfight ensued near a cafe where they stopped, which led to the shooting.
Aside from the rider, three others were injured in the incident, including the suspect's partner.
Maraggun said the victims were already discharged from the hospital.
Kenneth was nabbed at a checkpoint in Masinag, Barangay Mayamot, following a hot pursuit operation.
