Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon has joined the growing list of well-wishers of newly-appointed Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto.
"We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Ralph Recto on his appointment as the newly appointed Secretary of the Department of Finance," Bongalon said in a Facebook post Friday morning, Jan. 12.
The rookie congressman wrote the post mere hours before Recto's oathtaking in Malacañang as the new finance chief.
Recto would have to leave his seat in the House of Representatives afterward. He has served as Batangas 6th district congressman and House deputy speaker in the current 19th Congress.
"His extensive experience and proven leadership, having previously served as director-general of the NEDA (National Economic Development Authority), senator of the Philippines, and deputy speaker of the 19th Congress of the House of Representatives, epitomize his steadfast commitment to public service and his dedication to the well-being of our nation," Bongalon said of Recto.
"We are confident that his expertise and vision will continue to positively shape the economic landscape of our country," added the Bicolano.
Bongalon further said that he wishes his former House colleague "every success in his new role" even as he "look(s) forward to the impactful contributions he will undoubtedly make to our nation's economic development".
