Housekeeper becomes a millionaire after playing lotto for almost 20 years

It took almost two decades for a housekeeper to finally achieve a long-time dream: winning the lottery.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Thursday, Sept. 7, announced that a bettor, working as a housekeeper, was the latest millionaire to claim P61-million Lotto 6/42 prize pot.

As told to PCSO, the winner revealed that the numbers she used were a combination of the birthdates of her family members.

“Almost 20 years ko na pong tina-tayaan yung mga birthdays namin mag-anak at buti naman sa awa ng Diyos ay nanalo din po kami (I have been betting using my family's birthdays for almost 20 years, and thankfully, by the grace of God, we finally won)."
“Makakaraos na kami sa hirap (We will finally overcome hardship),” she told the PCSO after claiming the jackpot prize, which amounted to P61,234,178.20, at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City.
'Luck knocks only once'
The newest millionaire to claim the prize also shared a piece of advice for hopeful individuals playing the PCSO lottery.
"It is difficult to be poor, so my advice, coming from a place of hardship, is to keep pursuing your dreams and never give up," she said in Filipino.
She also reminded future bettors that "kapag ito po ay inyong nakamtan ay inyo po itong paka-ingatan dahil minsan lang po kakatok ang swerte sa ating buhay (when you finally achieve it, cherish it because luck knocks only once in our lives)."
Meanwhile, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, encouraged the public to keep patronizing PCSO lottery games, as 30 percent of its earnings are allocated for charitable donations.
