A fugitive Indian national, who has been misrepresenting himself as an official of the Indian Embassy in Manila, has been arrested in Ilocos Norte, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
In a statement, the BI identified the arrested fugitive as Prithes Das, 22, who not only has cases in his country but also in Baguio City and Davao City "for various fraudulent schemes."
It said the arrest of Das by the bureau's Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) last Tuesday, Sept. 26, was done in coordination with the Philippine National Police after “Indian authorities informed the BI that Das has been falsely representing himself as a Chief Advisor at the Embassy of India in Manila to deceive his victims in various fraudulent schemes.”:
“Das was found to be an overstaying and undesirable alien after being reported by his government for his crimes,” it also said.
Das is now detained at the BI's detention facility in Taguig City.
