20-year-old woman intercepted at NAIA for 'fraudulently acquired' passport
A 20-year-old woman, who claimed she is 30 years old and admitted she used her cousin's identity in her passport, was intercepted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Sept. 17.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sept. 22, the BI, which did not identify the woman, said that she claimed she is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and will work in Saudi Arabia as a househelp.
"However, immigration officers noted numerous inconsistencies and referred her for further inspection,” the BI said.
At first, the woman claimed she was 30 years old but later "shared that she is only 20 years and born in 2003 and assumed identity of her cousin."
After determining that she presented a fraudulently-acquired passport, the BI said “she was referred to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for further investigation.”
“Her passport was likewise forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs for appropriate action,” it said.
