Two men have been arrested in Manila by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly raping a woman who was their companion in a drinking session last Sept. 13.
The NBI identified the arrested suspects as Merwin R. Tamayo and Miguel F. Agno who have been charged with rape under the Revised Penal Code and violation of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
It said Tamayo and Agno were arrested last Sept. 14 in Tondo, Manila during a hot pursuit operation conducted by the agents of its Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOTCD).
It also said the two suspects underwent drug testing and found positive for Tetrahyrocannabinol, also known as marijuana.
In her complaint, the woman told the NBI that she joined the two men in a drinking session last Sept. 13. However, the NBI said that when she got drunk, the two men "started touching her legs and kissing her which she resisted at first but she lost consciousness due to excessive alcohol intake.”
It said that when she woke up the following day, she heard Agno thanking her while she saw Tamayo buttoning his pants.
“After the victim regained her consciousness, she together with a companion proceeded to the nearest police station where they were advised to go to Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to have her examined. The examination conducted by PGH on the victim revealed that there was indication of blunt force or penetrating trauma on her private part,” the NBI said.
The victim then sought the NBI's help in arresting Agno and Tamayo.
