'Stranger Things' to end with a bang in Season 5

Shawn Levy, producer of hit series "Stranger Things," has been crowing about the show’s upcoming season, deeming it "As big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

“It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series," he added.

Writer-director Matt Duffer likewise shared that the upcoming season will be “paced differently in comparison to previous seasons,” adding that for season five, “you’re just going to be in the middle of it so it’s going to feel very, very different.”

This is good news for fans of the popular sci-fi series whose quirky 80’s themed timeline and brand of comedy, drama and weirdness struck a commonality for GenZ, millennials and Gen-X audiences.

The show is popular enough that it affected the current viral-centric culture of today, giving rise to 80s music such as Kate Bush “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” and Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” decades after its initial popularity.

"Stranger Things" star David Arbour, Wynona Ryder, Joe Keery, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb Mclaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, Joseph Quinn, Charlie Heaton, Matthew Modine, Jamie Campbell Bower, among others.

While fans have a lot to look forward to, some of the cast--Arbour, Keery and Brown-- in particular commented that ending the series in its fifth season is the way to go, with Arbour saying it’s “definitely time,” and Keery echoing the sentiment with his “feels like it’s time” comment.

Production for Season 5 has been delayed because of the Writers Guild of America strikes.

Producers are still hopeful for an early to mid-2024 release.
