Indian national with arrest order for rape case in PH nabbed at NAIA
An Indian national, who has been ordered arrested by the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) on a rape charge, was apprehended at the Terminal III of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) before he could take his flight to Singapore last Sept. 8.
In a statement, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the arrested foreigner as Jacob Manoj Paul Chempalakynnil, 50 years old.
“As a policy, courts forward to us orders barring the travel of individuals who have warrants of arrest or hold departure orders,” Tansingco said.
“Upon receipt of orders from courts, we immediately include these individuals in our derogatory record,” he said.
Immigration officers found Chempalakynnil's name in the BI’s database of individuals with criminal records. “He was the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by Branch 220 of Quezon City RTC for a non-bailable charge of rape," the BI said.
He was turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which arrested him, it also said.
