Although small, PH's presence in West PH Sea has been effective—Marcos
While the Philippines only has a small frontline force in the West Philippine Sea, it has shown that it will not give up its territory.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. made the statement during his talk to the troops at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command in Palawan.
Marcos lauded the troops for their consistent presence in the West Philippine Sea, saying that they have been "very effective" in showing the world that the country will continue to defend its territory.
"Ang buong bansa ay umaasa sa inyong mga ginagawa dahil kayo ang nagpapakita at itinataguyod ang ating mga teritoryo at sinasabi natin nandito ang —may puwersa ng Pilipino rito kaya’t maging maliwanag na itong mga isla na ito, itong mga — pati yung dagat na ito ay pag-aari ng Pilipinas (The entire country is relying on you because you have shown that we have a force here, which clearly shows that this island, the sea, is ours)," Marcos said on Friday, Sept. 1.
The President stressed that despite the Philippines' small capability, equipment, and forces compared to other countries claiming territories in the South China Sea, the Philippines was still able to hold its ground and "show the country and the world that we will not give up our territory."
"And that is the very difficult and important job that the Western Command has before you. And I can only say that I think it is significant to note that the efforts that you have been making under your command have been effective," Marcos said.
"[T]he Western Command is playing their very, very important part in keeping the peace. That is the most important part of all of these is to keep the peace," he added.
The Chief Executive also expressed gratitude to the Western Command "for the achievements that you have made already in terms of holding the line" and assured them that the government will continue to support them.
