A suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) has been arrested at the Terminal III of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The NBI identified the suspected ASG member as Mohammad Maca-Antal Said, alias Amah Maas, who was arrested last Aug. 10 by the NBI's International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID) before he could board his flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“The NBI-IAID discovered that Subject Said has existing warrants of arrest; thus, immediately placing him under arrest,” it said.
It also said that “Said was one of the individuals charged for the gruesome killing and beheading of two Marines in Patikul, Sulu during an encounter between Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Abu Sayyaf on July 28, 2011.”
The NBI also noted “seven Marines were killed and 26 others were wounded during the encounter.”
“NBI-IAID also discovered thru Record Checking that Subject Said was also charged with 25 counts of frustrated murder; three separate murder cases; kidnapping with murder; kidnapping/serious illegal detention; kidnaping with homicide; and two counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention,” it said.
“NBI-IAID is currently gathering other standing warrants of arrest for implementation against Subject Said," it added.
