The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chapters nationwide are on alert status in preparation for the effects of Typhoon Goring.

In a statement on Saturday, Aug. 26, PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon said that the organization’s rescue team, relief assets, equipment, and volunteers were ready for the expected areas to be hit by the typhoon.
PAGASA raised tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 3 over the northeastern portion of Cagayan and the extreme eastern portion of Isabela due to "Goring."
It is also forecasted to reach the super typhoon category on Monday, Aug. 28.
“Northern Luzon is still reeling from the impacts of Egay and Falcon. Landslides can be expected to occur in this region as it experienced massive amounts of rain during the past weeks,” Gordon said.
He added that along with other lifelines such as food, water, electricity, and telecommunications, PRC’s payloaders are prepositioned in case landslides, fallen trees, and other debris that will block roads and hamper relief and rescue operations. (Rhowen Del Rosario)
