'Goring' continues to intensify; PAGASA hoists Signal No. 3 over parts of Cagayan, Isabela


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 3 over northeastern portion of Cagayan and the extreme eastern portion of Isabela on Saturday, Aug. 26.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA elevated the wind signals in Santa Ana, Cagayan; Divilacan, and Palanan in Isabela to signal No. 3 from Signal No. 2 in the previous forecast.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau raised wind Signal No. 2 over the eastern portion of Cagayan Peñablanca, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga, Santa Teresita, Buguey, northern part of Aurora Dilasag, Casiguran, and Isabela Dinapigue, San Mariano, Ilagan City, Maconacon, Cabagan, Tumauini, and San Pablo.

Eastern portion of Isabela such as Dinapigue, San Mariano, Ilagan City, Maconacon, Cabagan, Tumauini, San Pablo, eastern portion of Cagayan Peñablanca, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga, Santa Teresita, Buguey, and the northern portion of Aurora Dilasag, Casiguran are now under Signal No. 1.

 

'Goring's' intensity and track forecast

PAGASA said "Goring" has maintained its strength as it continues to move northeastern, eastern of Luzon.

Typhoon Goring was spotted 155 kilometers (km) East of Aparri, Cagayan traveling at 10 kilometers per hour (kph).

It has a maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Moreover, it is forecasted to continue intensifying and may reach the super typhoon category on Monday, Aug. 28. (Rhowen Del Rosario)
