Mr. Fu

I was one of the many viewers who felt sad about the conflict within the production team of Eat Bulaga. (Kahit di naman ako part ng show ha!) The show’s four decades on television is no joke. (So mababalewala nalang ba?!) For now, there’s Eat Bulaga on GMA7 featuring a new set of hosts while the original hosts went to TV5 and launched E.A.T. But the legal battle continues. (Pareho silang nagce-celebrate ng 44 years! ha)

I was once a member of the EB Dabarkads. In 2009, I got the opportunity to host a segment titled EB Dance Station. (Bagong DJ palang ako at kasagsagan ng may ganon?!) My writer then was Jervi Li, who is now the KaladKaren of Philippine Showbiz. (iHndi pa sya mukhang Karen that time!) This was my very first TV hosting gig as a radio jock. (At dito nanganak mga raket ko sa tv!)

Last week, E.A.T. invited me to appear on their National Dabarkads Day episode. I immediately said yes. (Sayang din ang TF ha!) This was part of the 44^th anniversary celebration of the longest-running noontime show of the iconic trio Tito, Vic, and Joey. (Taray nung maging part ako ng anniv ha!) I guested with my fellow EB graduates Super Sireyna Francine, Foreignoy Eduardo, Sinon Loresca, DJ Tom Alvarez, and Daiana Meneses. We had the chance to be part of their newest game segment: Gimme 5: Ang Laro ng mga Henyo. (Na para kaming naging Team Mental Block o baka pa nga Team Tanga!)

It feels good to see the original staff and hosts still manning the show. (Parang reunion!) There’s also a different high when you are with Bossing Vic and Sir Joey in one frame. (Historic ha!) I have been with these two legends for several segments in the past but I still get excited every time I’m with them.  (O baka feelingera lang ako!) I love TVJ! My heart just has a special spot for Sir Joey. I remember when I was on EB, I was very shy to say hi to him (actually afraid!) but one day he just approached me and said: “huuuuy!” (sabay hampas ng hawak nyang dyaryo sakin!) Months later, I found myself hosting Wow Meganon and Wow Mali with him. (Na seven years naming ginawa ha!)  I only have good words for this Henyo Master! (love you po!)

We don’t know what’s next with the current noontime shows on television. (Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!) But one thing is certain, people don’t forget the legacy of TVJ! Happy Anniversary Dabarkads! (Willing pa rin ako magpapalo ng dyaryo! Lucky charm ko yan!)
