MOVIEGOER: Judging Enchong Dee and other victims of social media

Enchong Dee (Facebook)
Poor Enchong Dee. An innocent Instagram post that captured him with Spanish actor and ‘Elite’ star Omar Ayoso during a break at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland has fetched a flood of uninvited bashing from just about anywhere.
The actor and former athlete was in Locarno to grace the premiere of Topakk, where he plays a mean support role to Arjo Atayde. Action-drama film Topakk has since clinched an international distribution deal.
It seems judging people, especially actors and assorted celebrities, is the accepted norm on social media. In the case of Enchong, bashers have been too emboldened to connect the two actors as lovers without rhyme or reason. That is just too sad and downright damaging.
Social media continues to rear its ugly head with full cooperation from reckless, irresponsible users. Pity its poor, hapless victims.

Matteo Guidicelli
By the way, Enchong has lent support to young singer-songwriter Khimo Gumatay by playing the lead in the music video for his debut single “Nasunog.’
The short film directed by Kashka Gaddi is a love story set in a futuristic city according to the “Idol Philippines” season 2 grand winner. It tells a love story between, of all things, a human and a robot.
Enchong stars as Kim, a waiter captivated by a newly hired robot bartender named Ava. Kim and Ava’s blossoming relationship faces challenges, topped by a mandate ordering the destruction of all robots due to their alleged tendency to turn evil.
“‘Nasunog’ has become an anthem of heartbreak, a poignant reminder that even in pain, there exists profound beauty in vulnerability.

PASSERBY:
Matteo Guidicelli, dapper in a light suit, unescorted by wife Sarah G., came to receive his award from Okada Manila Motorsport Carnivale 2023 the night of August 6, closing and awarding ceremony of the 5-day sporting event at the Glass Ballroom of Okada Manila in Paranaque City.
How’s Sarah, I asked, moments before he was called on stage. She’s fine, resting, after fulfilling a recent commitment. Sarah and Matteo seldom make public appearances together.
Matteo thanked Paranaque City Councilor Jomari Yllana, top gun behind the event, for acknowledging his contribution to motorsports in the Philippines.
Matteo was the first Filipino to finish the 24 Hours of Dubai endurance race.
Is he ever returning to the race tracks?
The actor answered with a flat ‘No.’
Is it because Sarah may be afraid for his safety?
Not really, he said. Racing has been a phase in his life in which he has proven something to himself. Now that he’s older, he has set different priorities in life, like marriage and the family.
Career-wise, Matteo’s excited becoming a TV host via Unang Hirit on GMA.
P-Pop stalwart SB19 and rock band The Juans team up to perform Team Tayo, new theme of Globe’s value brand ™. The song captures the Filipino team spirit which we, from an earlier generation, used to call bayanihan.
