Lawyers will have to pay 50 percent more for their membership fees at the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) starting on Jan. 1, 2024.
From the P2,000 annual membership fee, the amount will increase to P4,000, while the lifetime membership fee will increase to P50,000 from P25,000.
In its social media post, IBP – the mandatory organization of Philippine lawyers recognized by the Supreme Court (SC) – said: “For those who have already paid their annual dues for 2024 in advance, you may settle your balance on or before Jan.10, 2024.”
It said that “50 percent of the annual membership fee shall be returned to the Chapters for legal aid and member-care programs, among other activities.”
The IBP was organized in 1973 with the of its first chapter officers after the SC created the Commission on Bar Integration on Oct. 5, 1970.
IBP’s incumbent national president is Antonio C. Pido.
