Solane LPG’s CSR arm, Solane Alab Kalinga, provided over 1,500 meals to children and staff from seven different non-profit organizations across Metro Manila. This CSR initiative was done in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philippines, Inc. through McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. Solane Alab Kalinga aims to promote food security for underprivileged Filipinos nationwide starting with a monthly feeding initiative for partner organizations in need.

Solane LPG feeds the future one child at a time

One in every three Filipino children five years old and younger are considered stunted, being smaller in size for their age than they should be. Primarily caused by undernutrition, stunting is considered one of the most serious but least addressed problems in the world. The Philippines is ranked 5th for having the highest stunting rate in the East Asia and Pacific and in the top ten globally. To help address this issue, Solane Alab Kalinga focused its efforts on providing support to underprivileged children through programs that ensure they get the nutrition they need to grow up healthy. From January to July 2023, Solane Alab Kalinga invested over P100,000 for feeding initiatives across seven CSR partners across Metro Manila, reaching over 1,300 beneficiaries through their efforts. Through the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen, Solane Alab Kalinga was able to support feeding programs ran by NCR – Honda Click Blue in Pasig and in Holy Trinity School of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Marikina City. Solane Alab Kalinga also conducted outreach events with organizations such as Asilo de San Vicente de Paul and Hospicio de San Jose, giving Isla LPG employees an opportunity to interact with the kids. Most recently, Solane Alab Kalinga held an outreach with the Concordia Children’s Services, where over a hundred children aged two to 11 years old received meals and school gift bags. The kids also enjoyed fun games and performed musical numbers while getting to spend the day with the volunteers at the event. “As a company that aims to contribute to sustainable economic development, we believe it is our responsibility to help promote wellness among the communities we serve,” Jose Antonio Gonzalez, CEO of Isla LPG Corp, the company behind Solane LPG, said. “Good meals do more than filling up an empty stomach. The comeback of the annual Solane Golf Tournament March of this year was dedicated to funding the food security efforts and other Solane Alab Kalinga initiatives.
