New Airbnb data reveals that Filipino travelers are increasingly going solo, as solo travel by Filipinos on the platform increased over 185 percent year-on-year in 2022 as compared to 2021. Platform data also revealed that Airbnb nights booked in private room listings in the Philippines surged over 200 percent last year. At an average rate of approximately ₱2,200 per night, private rooms on Airbnb are an increasingly popular option among solo travelers. Hosting serves as an economic lifeline for many, with the typical private room host earning more than ever. Last year, private room hosts in the Philippines earned over ₱540 million. To support Airbnb’s growing community of solo travelers, Airbnb has expanded its dedicated Solo Traveler Safety feature to over 50 languages, including Tagalog. This allows solo travelers to access expert tips, share their reservation itinerary with loved ones, and add an emergency contact to their profile.
