Feast on the best Singaporean dishes at this restaurant in Quezon City

Tiong Bahru Philippines opens its newest branch at Eastwood City.

Singapore is, without a doubt, a foodie’s paradise. Think of that food market scene from the film “Crazy Rich Asians.” Each food stall presents the best flavors the country has to offer, from savory eats to mouthwatering sweet creations. The country is also home to many Michelin-recognized restaurants. And if you’re craving a taste of it, you’re in luck as some of them are already here in the Philippines, one of which is Tiong Bahru.

Founded by Chefs Koh Kim Hock and Cheong Weng Wah, Tiong Bahru is on a mission to introduce authentic hawker food in Manila. With its mastery of Singaporean cuisine, the restaurant has been a Michelin Bib Gourmand Awardee for five consecutive years since 2017. This June, the restaurant continues its goal of feeding Filipino nothing but the best Singaporean dishes as it opens its seventh branch in Eastwood Citywalk 1 in Quezon City.

Gracing its official launch last June 4 were Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte, UAE ambassador Mohammed Alqataam Obaid Alzaaibi, and Malaysian ambassador Melvin Castelino. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were treated to a true Singaporean feast.

Fried tofu, Kailan with oyster sauce

Our lunch featured the best of Tiong Bahru’s menu—Kikiam, kailan with oyster sauce, and roasted chicken, among others. But the true highlight of the table was the Hainanese Chicken Rice. This one-pot dish features tender poached chicken with rice that is cooked in flavorful chicken broth. Eating it was definitely a comforting experience. Its strength lies in the subtlety of its taste, highlighting the flavors of the chicken which is complemented by the ginger and scallion thrown in the mix. On the side are the chili and plain ginger sauces and sweet soy sauce to add zing to the dining experience.

The newest branch of Tiong Bahru Philippines is located on the ground level of Icon Tower, Eastwood Citywalk 1, Bagumbayan, Libis, Quezon City. To know more about its offering, visit tiongbahru.ph or @tiongbahru_ph on Instagram.
