The boy’s grandmother, Emeline, said the boy may have crawled to the kitchen while they were asleep and no one noticed that he fell inside the pail face down. Emeline said that the baby was already bloated when he was found. The baby was declared dead when he was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center. Police said they found no indications of foul play in the death. The boy’s 24-year-old mother, Lara Lazaga, said she, Adrione, and his twin brother went to bed together on Monday night. Before sleeping, Lara said the twins were each given a bottle of milk. Lara said she was busy all day and didn’t have enough sleep as she became busy preparing the wedding of a friend. The woman said fatigue may have caused her to fall into a deep slumber and didn’t notice that the baby crawled to the kitchen. It was around 9 a.m. when Lara woke up to a shout of her mother, who found the boy inside the bucket, which didn’t have a cover. The tragedy happened several months after Lara’s three-month-old baby died due to myelomeningocele or an inborn backbone defect.
