NBI arrests man 'for threatening to spread naked videos' of woman he met online
A man has been arrested in Quezon City for threatening a woman of spreading or uploading online her naked videos if she would not have sex with him, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Wednesday, June 21.
The NBI identified the arrested person as James Kenneth R. Pelaez who has been charged with violations of Article 286 of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act No. 9995, the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, in relation to the Cybercrime law.
It said that Pelaez was arrested in a motel in Quezon City last June 7 after he was made to believe that he would meet the female complainant.
“The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by the victim of Subject Pelaez. According to the Complainant, she met Subject Pelaez in a website and their communication continued to Instagram platform. A week after, Complainant and Subject’s relationship became closer and romantic. After sometime, their relationship became serious and started to video call each other while pleasuring themselves fully naked,” the NBI said.
“The romantic relationship became a nightmare for the Complainant because Subject threatened the former that he would upload her nude videos during their intimate video calls if she will not accede to his demands. Complainant was surprised because Subject Pelaez recorded their videos without her consent,” it added.
