The halls of the Newport Performing Theater were recently lit up, not just literally, with the stage lights on, but figuratively, with stars and celebrities gracing a special staging of the come-backing musical “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”
Nostalgic tunes, the most fashionable looks from the ‘90s, and the country’s illustrious stars prevailed in the gala night of the musical AHEB) recently, marking the production’s third onstage comeback following two highly-successful runs before the pandemic.

Some of the hottest stars such as Cristine Reyes, Marco Gumabao, Kris Bernal, Gabbi Garcia, Khalil Ramos, and Ashley Ortega graced the night. Josh Cullen of SB19 P-pop boy group, actress Daiana Menezes, and rapper Tommie King joined the star-studded list. GMA Network President Lilybeth Rasonable also attended the event. Content creators Mimiyuuuh, Kevin Ty, Ashley So Chan, Ej Drew, and Mikyle Quizon were spotted at the front and center for the gala night performance.

Celebrity guests donned 90s-inspired fashion pieces in the jam-packed evening that kicked off with spectacular performances in the pre-show event at The Plaza, Newport Mall. AHEB cast member and indie folk artist Bullet Dumas, who plays the role of Emman, performed a heartfelt rendition of the iconic ‘90s hit “Minsan”. The spotlight also shined on the understudy members who showcased their promising vocals to the public for the first time. After the show, gala night attendees got to let loose in an exclusive after-party at Kao, the newest VIP day and night club at the heart of the integrated resort.

Kapuso tandem Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia were obviously affected by the show’s heartrending parts and gave their fellow GMA artist Anthony Rosaldo their all support and appreciation as he played the role of the young Hector.

For his part, Rosaldo expressed gratitude with the way audiences received his stage debut.
“Thank you so much. I really just did my best to perform and give life to Hector,” he told the Thrillmaker after the show.

When asked how he would rate the show, Tiktok’s Ej Drew said: “Ang ganda ng show. Ang galing nilang lahat. Nakaka-inspire na someday makasama din ako sa ganitong production.”
