In a press statement issued Thursday, PhilSA said the initiative seeks to deepen the use of SSTA to “enhance the Philippine maritime security capabilities.”

To discuss this possible partnership, PhilSA and PCG met. During the meeting, areas for possible collaboration were discussed. These include the following: maritime domain awareness, maritime environment research, and capacity building and know-how exchange.

“The efforts to strengthen collaborations with the defense and security sector is in line with [our] mandate to assist other government agencies in the performance of their duties and functions with improved public access and resource sharing through the utilization of SSTA and mobilization of space data,” said PhilSA.

“PhilSA stands ready to help PCG in building their space technology capabilities,” PhilSA Space Industry Strategic Business Development Bureau Director Marc Talampas said.
