Hard work pays off for singer-songwriter rhodessa.
Her latest song “Kisame” is about to break into the Top 10 of Spotify’s Viral 50 Philippines chart playlist.
The young music act used to produce songs independently until she made her label debut back in 2021 and released a string of singles that peaked with the sparsely arranged and atmospheric sounding “Isa, Dalawa, Tatlo.”
Since then, rhodessa has been chipping away, making the slow climb into mainstream recognizability.

Released back in February, “Kisame” now hovers at the number 11 spot on the aforementioned playlist.
rhodessa (real name Rhodessa Marie S. Uy) channels alternative flavored pop via this atmospheric ballad about missing a love that’s far away.
The singer describes herself as the kind of artist with music “to vibe on a sunny beach afternoon or those cold rainy mornings (with) the kind of songs that will make you cry but at the same time, will hug you like a warm blanket.”
Theme-wise, rhodessa writes songs “about one sided love; still beautiful despite not being reciprocated. Because at the end of the day, it’s still love.”
As for her song “Kisame” lingering in the Viral 50 Philippines playlist all these weeks, rhodessa shared that “it’s still a shock for me. Hanggang ngayon parang di pa rin nagsi-sink in na kasama ko sa charts yung mga artists na pinapakinggan ko at mga naging inspiration ko to pursue dream.”
While the top of Pinoy pop is still a long way away, rhodessa is grateful.
“I feel loved by many, especially those I interact with online who shared that they confessed using my song or that they felt comfort while listening to it.”
“Sobrang surreal.”
