The number of individuals who needed its assistance during the 2024 Traslacion on Tuesday, Jan. 9, has reached 700 according to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
As of 8 p.m., PRC records showed that a total of 706 individuals needed assistance during the procession.
Volunteers of the PRC checked the vitals of 257 individuals.
Meanwhile, the PRC recorded 215 minor cases and six major cases.
Among the cases attended by PRC volunteers included minor cases such as abrasion, burn, dizziness, puncture, laceration, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, hyperventilation, wound, headache, elevated blood pressure, and infected wound.
Major cases that needed urgent response included head trauma (swelling), laceration, incision, fainting, severe chest pain, and a suspected fracture on the left ankle.
Other cases also required transporting to PRC Emergency Field Hospital (EHF) such as those who complained of fever, cough, dizziness, body weakness, vomiting, and ankle sprain, chest pain, and numbness.
PRC said abdominal pain reported by a pregnant woman and a second-degree burn needed transporting to medical facilities.
Based on the latest Traslacion update of PRC, a total of 34 individuals needed transporting: 23 were brought to the (PRC EFH), four to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH); two to JRRMC; two to Tondo Med; one to OSMA; and two to EFH ICP).
PRC also provided welfare assistance to nine individuals which included Psychosocial First Aid, tracing, and referral.
A total of 185 responders were also given hot meals.
To respond to emergency cases, the PRC set up 10 First Aid Stations and 10 Welfare Desks for this year’s Traslacion.
Aside from an Emergency Field Hospital, the PRC also deployed 18 ambulances, a fire truck, a food truck, and a rescue boat.
For manpower, the PRC said more than 1,000 PRC staff and volunteers were mobilized.
