Comelec to draft response on Impact Hub Manila's P15.3-M unsettled liability claims

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered its law department to draft a letter-reply to Impact Hub Manila's demand for P15.3 million unsettled liabilities. During Comelec's meeting on Wednesday, May 17, it was said that the letter-reply would be signed by Executive Director Teofisto Elnas Jr. to sign for and on behalf of the commission. The fact-finding investigation panel will then submit its recommendation, identifying, if any, the laws and rules violated as well as the persons involved.

It warned the poll body that it is already their final demand and legal actions will be taken if not settled within the next five days upon receipt of the notice. Chairman George Garcia stated on May 16, that the commission cannot be rushed with the settlement as criminal, civil, and administrative liabilities are still being investigated. He also noted that the investigating panel had already submitted a report to Comelec en banc several months ago but was returned to clearly pinpoint the specific laws, provisions, and individuals involved.
