Marikina LGU announces garbage collection schedule this Holy Week
The Marikina City local government announced a new garbage collection schedule for the Holy Week.
Garbage in Barangays Nangka, Parang, Fortune, and parts of Concepcion Uno (Green Heights Subdivision Phase 1 and 2, Fairlane Subdivision, Kingsway Subdivision, L. Diwa, Benedicto Compound, Twinville Subdivision, Unirock, and Majestic Subdivision) will not be collected by City Environmental Management Office (CEMO) personnel on Friday, April 7.
Garbage collection in these areas will resume on Saturday, April 8. CEMO will collect biodegradable waste first, then return to get the non-biodegradable trash.
Residents in these areas are advised to not leave their garbage bags outside their house on April 7. The CEMO also asked the affected households to wait for the garbage truck to arrive in their areas before taking out their garbage bags.
Meanwhile, the garbage collection in the following barangays will proceed as usual: Barangka, Jesus Dela Pena, Tañong, Sto. Niño, Concepcion Dos, parts of Fortune (Champaca 1, San Miguel, Victory Hills, Bonanza 1 to 4, Horseshoe, Upper and Lower Balite).
Households located on A. Bonifacio Avenue will have their garbage collected on April 7 at 11 a.m.
Garbage collection operations in all areas in Marikina will follow the regular schedule on Wednesday, April 5, and Thursday, April 6.
Marikina’s CEMO uses a segregated waste management system wherein garbage collection is scheduled per barangay or district. Some days of the week are reserved for collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes.
Garbage trucks come and collect garbage with the ringing of a bell to alert residents to place their garbage bags outside their homes.
The CEMO reminded residents to segregate dry and wet wastes and to follow the dates reserved for collecting them.
