Ex-PBA cager dies in Cebu City motorcycle accident


CEBU CITY – A former professional basketball player died after he was run over by a prime mover while driving a motorcycle at the South Road Properties here on Saturday morning, April 29.

The fatality was identified as Rudy Enterina Jr., a former player in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Enterina played for University of the Visayas in college and was drafted sixth overall by Purefoods in the 1991 PBA Draft.

He also suited up for the Cebu Gems in the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association.

Police said the accident happened around 9:15 a.m. when Enterina lost control of his motorcycle when he passed an uneven part of the road.

He was thrown off the motorcycle and was run over by a prime mover with license plates NGB-4297 and driven by Jinghis Generale Tan, 59.

Tan was taken into police custody after the incident and could be charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, police said.
